The Unitree As2 AIR Quadruped Robot is the entry-level configuration of the Unitree As2 quadruped robot series, developed by Unitree Robotics as a compact, agile platform for inspection, patrol, and field mobility tasks. Weighing approximately 18 kg with its battery, it shares the same 12-DOF mechanical foundation as the broader As2 lineup, combining low-inertia inner-rotor PMSM motors with industrial-grade crossed roller bearings to achieve a standing payload capacity of up to 45 kg and a continuous walking load of approximately 10 kg. The robot operates at speeds between 0 and 3.0 m/s in standard use, handles slopes of up to 30 degrees, and climbs stairs up to 20 cm in height. Its compact form factor makes it well-suited for mixed indoor and outdoor environments where a larger quadruped would be impractical.
The As2 AIR equips a Unitree L2 ultra-wide-angle LiDAR alongside an HD camera, speaker, microphone, front lighting, and Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity to support navigation, obstacle awareness, and basic autonomous operation. The standard 8,000 mAh battery delivers approximately 2 hours of unloaded continuous walking with a range of around 10 km, and over 1.5 hours when carrying a 10 kg payload. As an open AI robotics platform entry point, the As2 AIR supports the UniStore application platform and receives continuous OTA software updates, providing access to a growing ecosystem of applications for inspection, patrol, and field deployment use cases.
Low-inertia inner-rotor PMSM motors with industrial crossed roller bearings and dual encoders per joint deliver up to 65 N·m peak torque with precise, repeatable motion across all terrain types.
Runtime
The standard 8,000 mAh battery delivers approximately 2 hours of continuous unloaded walking over a range of around 10 km, with over 1.5 hours and approximately 7 km available when carrying a 10 kg payload.
Navigation & Perception
The Unitree L2 ultra-wide-angle LiDAR paired with an HD camera provides the spatial awareness needed for obstacle detection, route following, and stable autonomous locomotion across varied environments.
The As2 AIR brings legged mobility and LiDAR-equipped navigation to inspection, patrol, and field operations in a compact, lightweight platform accessible as an entry point into the As2 series.
Industrial Inspection & Facility Patrol
The As2 AIR is suited for autonomous patrol and inspection of indoor facilities such as warehouses, manufacturing floors, and substations. Its LiDAR-equipped navigation and HD camera allow it to cover complex indoor routes and provide situational awareness across varied lighting conditions without continuous operator input.
Research & Education
Universities, robotics labs, and AI research centers can use the As2 AIR as an accessible entry point into the As2 mechanical platform, taking advantage of its 12-DOF quadruped architecture and UniStore ecosystem to run and evaluate legged mobility applications without the overhead of higher-tier configurations.
Outdoor Navigation & Field Operations
With gradeability of up to 30 degrees, the ability to climb 20 cm stairs, and a range of approximately 10 km unloaded, the As2 AIR handles light outdoor terrain for use cases such as site walkthroughs, environmental monitoring, and field data collection.
Indoor Demos & Showcases
The As2 AIR’s compact 18 kg form factor and agile 12-DOF locomotion make it an ideal platform for live demonstrations, exhibition deployments, and indoor showcases where a capable legged robot is needed without the overhead of a higher-tier configuration.
